Kitchen Details

As most everyone knows we did our first huge home renovation last month. By "we did our first" I mean that it happened to us and that we paid for it. We did not actually DO the renovation. We had the privilege of working with J. Robertson Custom Homes for this process, which ended up being much quicker than expected which is always nice. Sadly, I do not have before and after pictures to show. I took them but I have no clue what I did with them and it's possible that it's the one casualty to the great disaster of the first week renovation. Before I get to the details I just have to tell you about that week because it was unbelievable.

  • Saturday- Our kitchen was torn out. We were left with the frig in the family room.
  • Sunday- Our upstairs air conditioner went out and had to be replaced. Just so you know, there was an excessive heat warning that week. Oh, and Chris had a filling fall out at lunch.
  • Tuesday- My overnight backup on my work computer failed which I didn't figure out until Wednesday night.
  • Wednesday- My hard drive that hold all of my work images went bad which is not as bad as it sounds because my husband is a GENIUS but one of the session from the weekend prior was temporarily lost. Had to take Chris to the oral surgeon to get tooth removed.
  • Thursday- Had to get new tires on one car and get the tires on the other car rotated. Chris spent about 6 hours working on the messed up hard drive to retain all of the lost images. Hooray Chris!
  • Friday- The crown that the oral surgeon knocked off fell out.
I do not even want to think about how much money we bled out that week so let's get back to the kitchen. Due to the fact that I am soooo in love with the new kitchen and the number of photos would be downright ridiculous, I'll start with the details.

We switched to a gas cooktop.

That's the "start" button on our fancy new Jenn Air dishwasher. It has more buttons and functions that I knew a dishwasher could have. Seriously, just wash my dishes! For the record, it was free with the purchase of the cooktop and oven and I love it! It is almost totally silent. Literally, Chris and I have to put our ears up to it to see if it's working. It is, by far, the nicest free thing I've ever gotten!

We added a wall oven and a very fancy microwave that shows me pictures on how to cook thing in it. Chris jokes that he will only ever push one button on it but it really is cool. It's a microwave and a fully functioning oven. So the once or twice a year that I need two ovens I have it but I didn't have to give up the space that would be necessary for two ovens and a microwave. I love it when I get everything I want!

This is my beautiful granite and this picture doesn't even do it justice. Getting this granite was kind of an ordeal. Apparently the entire St. Louis Metro area doesn't keep much of the kind I wanted in stock but that's a story for another day.

I love the Allen+Roth wagon wheel designed light that we got for over our future kitchen table.

I got this pretty at Garden Ridge on a day that I was feeling oh so sorry for my hubs. I'd had in my mind that I wanted a metal sculpture over the cooktop since we opted to wait on a tile backsplash right now. So, we drove all-the-way to Old Time Pottery in north county. I found something thought it was great... until I saw this at Garden Ridge on the way home!

These are Top Knobs Tuscany series pulls and I just love them. I got these beautiful drop down handles to go under the cooktop to make it stand out. They're perfect!

These are the matching pulls for the doors. I love them too!

Last detail for today because I've got to get a menu going and get to the grocery store. This is my beautiful Moen faucet. I love the style and the color could not be more perfect!

I know. I know. You're wanting to see the actual cabinets and such and I will get to it asap but this crew needs food and the kitchen is empty at the moment... plus it's $10 off Thursday at Shop 'n Save.

Have a blessed day!
